Free website templates downloads are a great way to save a lot of money in creating your new website.  I personally prefer 2 great sources.  One of them is OpenSourceWebDesign.org (OSWD). The other source is Free Templates Online.

Once you’ve found the template you want, all you then need is website hosting.  Website hosting can very inexpensive (less than $10 per month) with web hosting services such as GoDaddy.com.

Free website design templates make it inexpensive, paired with a low cost hosting company such as godaddy.com.  With godaddy.com, you can have a website going for around $5/month.

Don’t know anything about building a website or HTML?  Check out w3schools.com, a free website where you can learn HTML, javascript, php, and more, with interactive examples.

But I got to thinking, you could make your own free bowling website template by using any of the great free templates at OSWD-Open Source Web Design and then putting your own bowling pictures on them using a free software like Kompozer.

You’ll still need a place to host your website of course, and it can be cheaper than you think. I currently pay less than $10/mo with a plan from godaddy:

As a technology consultant, I run into people all the time that think you have to invest a lot of money into a website for it to be successful, or you have to learn a lot of crazy internet languages….but that’s simply NOT true.


What makes a successful website? CONTENT. I can’t say it any clearer than that. If your content is no good, it doesn’t matter how much you’ve spent, or how nice your website looks….it just won’t draw the visitors.

I personally use godaddy.com for my web hosting and have done so for years. If you don’t know what to do with a “free web page template download”, that’s ok….godaddy has simple sites you can set up the same day you buy your hosting and domain (known as Website Tonite).

If so, then you CAN afford a website or blog using godaddy!

What is “web hosting”?

Whenever you go to a website, such as this one, bear in mind that the files for that website, such as the main page, etc, all live on a server somewhere (computer). A company that “hosts” the website for you, is called a “web host”.

What is a domain?

A domain is a web address such as garyfarnam.org or google.com. You can only buy a domain if someone else doesn’t already have it. It’s best to buy a domain and a web hosting account together as you can many times get great discounts, like what I mentioned above.

All you need now is a FREE website template such as Wordpress, which is available from godaddy once you set up your new account.

We have personally been using godaddy for years and haven’t had any issues and have had great customer service experiences with them.

So now that you know that you CAN afford a website or blog, the only thing left to do now is signup and share your information with the world!
